Activities of the Unit of Declaration of Assets from January to June 2009 .

The main activities of the Unit of Declaration from January to June were the following:

Distributing forms of declaration of assets to all that the law obliges to faithfully declare their assets as the law n o 25/2003 of 15/08/2003 establishing the organisation and functioning of the Office of Ombudsman provides as it was modified and complemented by law n o17/2005 of 18/08/2005 ;

  1. Receiving declared assets of those the law obliges to do so;
  2. Carrying out research on the impact of the activity of declaration of assets in the Office of Ombudsman;
  3. The activity of verifying the declared assets was also carried out mainly to the assets declared in 2008. As it is provided in the strategic plan of the Office of Ombudsman, those to be verified included the following:
    • Judges in Higher instance and Lower instance Courts;
    • Prosecutors in Higher and Lower levels;
    • Governors, Mayor of Kigali and Some employees of all Provinces and City of Kigali;
    • Mayors and Directors in all districts;
    • Directors and some employees in projects working in some Ministries.

 

The activities of the Unit of Declaration will be continued until November 2009.
