The office of the ombudsman has trained different categories of Rwandans on the Access to information law, the Organic law on the leadership code of conduct and Law on fighting against corruption

From Thursday 29th to 30th October and 5th to 6th November 2020, at Nobleza Hotel The office of the ombudsman trained different categories of Rwandans on the Access to information law, the Organic law on the leadership code of conduct and Law on fighting against corruption. This training was given to information officers from public and private institutions and to the Journalists of different media houses.

This training also considered how the leaders promote the publication and dissemination of information and the challenges and opportunities it might present.

This year’s training considered the diversity of trainees by training 400 participants from different institutions with 50 trainees per day.

This training was the opportunity of clarifying different law provisions relating to Access to information law and improved the relations among institutions and media practitioners and service delivery towards the citizens by timely accessing the information.

Article 38 of the constitution of the Republic of Rwanda of 2003 as amended to date states: “Freedom of Press, of Expression and of Access to Information are recognized and guaranteed by the state.” Therefore, the goal of Access to information law is in line with the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda.
