African Anti-Corruption Day 2020
On 11th July 2020, Rwanda Joined the rest of African Countries to commemorate the African Anti-Corruption Day.
With the theme: ‘’Fighting Corruption Through Effective and Efficient Judicial Systems’’ this day was assisted by different anti-corruption activities that include Radio and TV Talk-shows, Anti-corruption Radio Drama and so forth.
Rwanda has called upon other African countries to join hands for the eradication of the corruption that causes the loss of around 148 Billion USD to Africa each year.
During the synergy of Radio and TV Program attended by the Prosecutor General and the Inspector general in judiciary, the Ombudsman of Rwanda, Anastase Murekezi exhorted the public to have anti-corruption values of fairness, trustworthiness towards their home mates, workmates, subordinates and to help the justice systems and report corruption cases.
Though the link between corrupt people is so strong, Rwanda is putting in place more new efforts in fighting corruption.
11th July of each year was earmarked the African Anti-Corruption day on 25-27 January 2017 in Addis Ababa by African Union Advisory Board on Corruption following the 2nd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Union on 11 July 2003 in Maputo, Mozambique
