This Thursday, March 11, 2021, a delegation of Swedish Embassy in Rwanda led by Ambassador-Designate of Sweden in Kigali, Her Excellency Mrs. Johanna Teague paid a Virtual Courtesy call to Hon. Ombudsperson of Rwanda, Madam Nirere Madeleine with Deputy Ombudsmen. They exchanged on the mandate and the functioning of the Office of The Ombudsman and its best practices and achievements in preventing and fighting against Corruption and Injustice in Rwanda as well as sensitizing the citizens on their protective laws and their rights.

Talking of the purpose of the visit, Her Excellency Ambassador Johanna Teague said that they wanted to hear from the functioning of the Office of The Ombudsman and its challenges in its daily activities. The discussions focused on how the Office of The Ombudsman can collaborate with Swedish Embassy in streamlining knowledge and promoting the citizens involvement in decision making and their role in preventing and fighting injustice and corruption.

Hon. Nirere Madeleine, highlighted the role of Office of The Ombudsman in Rwanda through different activities of the Office. Those activities include but not limited to awareness campaigns towards the  citizens about the mandate and the functioning of the Office of The Ombudsman, Educating people on their protective laws and their rights, reporting corruption and injustice cases and receiving and solving timely their complaints, etc.
