From January 23 to January 27, 2023, the Office of the Ombudsman conducted a campaign to prevent and fight injustice and corruption in the Kirehe District.
The staff and Officials of the Office of the Ombudsman and those of the Kirehe District toured the sectors of Kirehe, sensitizing and educating the citizens to avoid injustice and corruption as well as receiving and solving the complaints of injustice that the people had lodged to them.

Launching this campaign, the Ombudsman, Ms. Nirere Madeleine, asked the residents of Kirehe District to avoid conflicts in families as they are root causes of injustice. She also asked them to prevent corruption by reporting it and urged them not to buy legal services. The Chief Ombudsman reminded them that buying legal services that are free under the law is corruption.
The Chief Ombudsman reminded the residents that when the Office of the Ombudsman conducts outreach, it is for the purpose of educating the citizens on how to avoid injustice and corruption, but there is another phase that consists of receiving and solving the citizens' complaints brought during this campaign.

Governor of the Eastern Province Gasana Emmanuel
The Governor of the Eastern Province, CG Gasana K. Emmanuel, who joined the Office of the Ombudsman in launching this campaign in Kirehe sector, praised the Office of the Ombudsman for this campaign. He reminded the residents the responsibilities of a good leader and asked the leaders to put priority on resolving citizens ‘complaints as indicated by the new initiated program in Eastern province called “Shashyanira Umuturage program” so that the people are always at the top and receive good services.
