A delegation from Zambia commends the achievements of The Office of the Ombudsman in their benchmark visit.
On this Wednesday, 18th September 2024, The Office of the Ombudsman is honored to host the delegation from the National Road Fund Agency and the Road Transport and Safety Agency from the Republic of Zambia to benchmark the work of the Office programs and projects coordination, stakeholders, engagement strategies, policies and mechanisms for preventing and fighting injustice and corruption in Rwanda. The delegation was welcomed by the Permanent Secretary
The Office of the Ombudsman explained to this group its work, which includes programs against injustice and corruption and asset declaration. the visiting delegation had ample time to discuss various issues of their interest with the Office‘s Officials.
Eng. Charles Kandeke, the Manager of the National Road Fund Agency in the Republic of Zambia, praised the work of the Office of the Ombudsman, saying that they knew Rwanda had prioritized working in transparency and there was a political will in tackling corruption before our visit and we are happy to have arrived in Rwanda.

“In Zambia, we do not declare assets as I have seen here. In our country, asset declaration is done inside the Institution only while here, asset declaration is done at the National level, our country also plans to do so next year, so you understand how this visit is really important for us" He said

Addressing the delegation, the Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Ombudsman, Clarisse Munezero, praised the delegation for thinking of visiting Rwanda and visiting the Office of the Ombudsman and expounded on various achievements recorded in Rwanda.
“As you have seen in presentations and discussions, we prioritize serving citizens at the best as possible, so that could not be achieved if there is injustice or corruption, that is why as Rwanda we have a goal that in the year 2050 Rwanda will be in the first place in fighting corruption." She added
According to the Corruption Perception Index 2023, Rwanda is the 1st in East Africa,4th in Africa, and 40th in the World.
