Delegates from Somalia Applaud the Efforts of Rwanda's Office of the Ombudsman

On November 16, 2024, the Office of the Ombudsman of Rwanda welcomed a delegation from Somalia on a courtesy visit aimed at understanding Rwanda’s achievements in preventing and fighting injustices.

The delegates were members of the Human Rights Committee from the Federal Parliament in the Federal Republic of Somalia.

During the visit, the Rwandan Office of the Ombudsman showcased its activities in collaboration with other institutions, including the Rwanda Parliament. These activities include resolving citizens' complaints in Districts, preventing and fighting corruption, and addressing conflicts through alternative dispute resolution mechanisms rooted in Rwandan culture.

Similarly, the Somali delegation shared their initiatives, which align with the work of Rwanda’s Office of the Ombudsman. These include conflict resolution programs in partnership with justice-related institutions in Somalia.

The members of Somalia’s Human Rights Committee expressed appreciation for Rwanda's political will in tackling injustice. They emphasized their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and collaboration between the two countries.

Leaders of Rwanda's Office of the Ombudsman also commended the Somali delegation for visiting Rwanda and for the insightful exchange of knowledge on shared responsibilities.
