Qatar Delegation Commends Rwanda’s Political Will in the Fight Against Corruption
On August 25, 2025, the Office of the Ombudsman received a large delegation from the State of Qatar, currently visiting Rwanda for a study tour.
In discussions with the leaders of the Office of the Ombudsman, the delegation focused on key issues, including Rwanda’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, the use of technology in preventing and combating corruption, the overall mandate of the Office of the Ombudsman, and strategies for implementation.

The delegation commended Rwanda’s political resolve in preventing and combating corruption, noting that many lessons had been learned that would assist Qatar in its efforts to fight corruption. Both parties stressed that this study tour aims to strengthen the existing cooperation between Rwanda and Qatar, reaffirming their commitment to continuing this collaboration.

Before visiting various public institutions, the delegation toured the Kigali Genocide Memorial, paying tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
The delegation from Qatar, led by the Leadership Centre, will spend a week in Rwanda visiting different institutions to learn about their operations and draw lessons. Among the institutions in their program are the Office of the Ombudsman, Rwanda Cooperation, which supports foreigners seeking to learn from Rwanda’s experiences, the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB), and the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR).
