Members of the Justice Sector have identified Corruption gaps

In a panel discussion organized by the Office of the Ombudsman in collaboration with the European Union, which brought together the members of Justice Sector on Thursday 13/02/2020, they discussed the loopholes and strategies to address this gaps.

In his welcome remarks, the Ombudsman, Anastase Murekezi said that it is important to work together to eradicate corruption loopholes.

The ombudsman also said that when corruption is reported to other agencies, the impact reaches the Justice sector where a final decision is being taken.
"Justice is a very important pillar in the prevention and fight against corruption and injustice because when justice is offered, it plays an important role in the development of the country and the observance of human rights and peace in the country, and all people are happy and prosperous," he added.

The President of the Supreme Court (Chief Justice), Dr Ntezilyayo Faustin, explained that the reasons for the corruption gap include the lack of appropriate timely services by the people and they decide to search for alternative means of access to them and their rights.
"It simply came to our notice that no service can be said to be free of corruption or other similar offenses. It is therefore important that every institution is determined to close the corruption gaps and take strong action to combat it.” said Chief Justice

The Office of the Ombudsman says that the resolutions taken in these discussions will be submitted to all institutions for the implementation. The similar Meetings will be held on a yearly basis.
