Residents of Nyagatare, Nyamagabe and Burera districts were trained on preventing and fighting corruption
As part of the Vision 2050 program where Rwanda plans to eradicate corruption in the country, the Office of the Ombudsman has started a program to train different groups of Rwandans who are reminded that corruption has zero tolerance in Rwanda.
The training in Nyagatare, Nyamagabe and Burera districts was launched on Monday 27th and will end on 31st March 2023. Among the trained groups are journalists working for various media houses and youth members of anti-corruption clubs.

On the 28th of March, the members of the mediation committees [Abunzi] at sector and cell levels were trained as they do a great job of providing justice through the process of helping those in conflict. It has been revealed that there are loopholes of corruption in their mediation work. Although the mediators [Abunzi] admit that there are corruption cases, they have shown that they have taken measures to fight it.

The members of the Advisory Council to prevent and fight against corruption and injustice at the sector level [ SACACI ]also received training on Wednesday, March 29, where they were reminded of their responsibilities and the task that awaits them in order to eradicate corruption completely.

On Thursday March 30, 2023, the Office of the Ombudsman trained land officers in all sectors of these three districts. Land-related services has corruption loopholes according to different researches.

At the end of this training program on Friday, March 31, 2023 in Nyagatare, Nyamagabe and Burera districts, Anti-corruption committees from district offices, sector offices, institutions and companies were trained on ways of preventing and fighting corruption.

Paragraph 2 of Article 4 of Law No 54/2021 of 29/08/2021 governing the Office of the Ombudsman states that the Office of the Ombudsman has the responsibility of training Rwandans in the values of rejecting, preventing, avoiding and fighting injustice and corruption.
