Rwanda joined the World to celebrate International Anti-Corruption day 2022
Today on December 9, 2022, Rwanda joined the World to celebrate International Anti-Corruption day under the theme "Promoting Anti-Corruption Values for Sustainable Development”.
The preceding public march against corruption was attended by different Officials and citizens during the International Anti-Corruption Day at the National level in Eastern Province, Rwamagana District .

The Governor of Eastern Province, Gasana K. Emmanuel thanked the Office of the Ombudsman for celebrating this day in the Eastern Province. He pointed out that Eastern Province has done a lot in the fight against corruption.

The Chief Ombudsman Hon. NIRERE Madeleine pointed out that Rwanda has put in place various measures and strategies to prevent and fight corruption: the National Strategy for Transformation (NST1: 2017-2024) which foresees that in 2024, the Anti-corruption rate is expected to shift from 86.56% (RGS 2016) to 92.56% by 2024 while in its vision of 2050, Rwanda should be the first country globally in the fight against corruption.

The Chief Ombudsman also thanked the Eastern Province and District of Rwamagana for their hard work and the many measures put in place to fight corruption. She also thanked the Anti-corruption clubs established in different District across the Country for their role in the campaign against Corruption.


Hon. Nyirahabimana Solina, the Minister of State in the Ministry of Justice and the Guest of honor at the ceremony, said that the government has put in place different measures and strategies to fight against corruption including Anti-corruption policy, laws, and various Institutions responsible for combating corruption and injustice.

The Minister of State also asked the citizens to treat corruption as an enemy of the country and to fight it as an enemy.
