The Chief Ombudsman of Rwanda received in courtesy call the Mediator of the Togolese Republic and her delegation in their study visit to Rwanda
Today, Tuesday, November 23, 2021, The Chief Ombudsman of Rwanda Honorable Madame Nirere Madeleine and her deputy Honorable Yankulije Odette received in courtesy call Honorable AMADOU ABOUDOU Awa Wife NANA, Mediator of the Togolese Republic and her delegation in their study visit.
They discussed how to draw inspiration from Rwanda's great experience in preventing and combating corruption and injustice. Discussions were based mainly on policies, programs, coordination mechanisms and initiatives to prevent and combat corruption and injustice.
The Ombudsman of Rwanda, Honorable Madame Nirere Madeleine told the delegation that with its main mission of preventing and fighting injustice and corruption, the Office of the Ombudsman established the policy and strategies to fight against corruption as the results of the best Leadership of H.E Paul Kagame, the President of the Republic of Rwanda who promoted the policy of zero Tolerance to Corruption.
She also upheld that the process of declaring Assets, as well as the conservation and security of declarations was among the established strategies.
She said "the political commitment to zero tolerance against corruption and building the capacity of the people, instill them to resist and prevent corruption have contributed to the battle against corruption."
Mediator of the Togolese Republic and his delegation were also interested in knowing the mechanism of collaboration between the Office of the Ombudsman and the Office of the Auditor General, as well as the contribution of the AOG reports in preventing and combating corruption and other related offenses.
The Mediator appreciated the great work done by the Office of The Ombudsman.
The delegation commended the best practices learned from Rwanda’s experience especially Strategies and Measures taken by the Rwanda Government to prevent and fight against corruption.
