The Office of The Ombudsman awarded Investigative Journalists and Anti-Corruption Clubs
Today, the Office of the Ombudsman awarded the best performing Journalists for their contribution in producing an investigative story/article on corruption in the Fourth Edition of Anti-Corruption Journalism Award 2022. The activity was supported by the European Union. The Office of the Ombudsman also awarded the best performing Anti-Corruption clubs for their contribution in preventing and fighting against corruption.
MUVUNANKIKO Valens, one of the representatives of these Anti-corruption who spoke on their behalf said that being awarded by the Office of The Ombudsman is a debt.

He said “this award given to us will help us fulfill our promise as Anti-corruption Clubs and we assure the Office of the Ombudsman and other Authorities that we work together never fail in fighting against corruption”.

AGAHOZO Amiella, one of the journalists awarded by the Office of the Ombudsman, says that there were many contestants in the competition but they were the ones who had the chance to win and she praised the Office of the Ombudsman and asks for them to always train journalists.

Deputy Ombudsman in charge of Preventing and Fighting Corruption Hon. Mukama abbas said that awarding journalists is in line of recognition of their role in fighting against corruption.

Chief Ombudsman Hon. Nirere Madeleine said that Anti-corruption Clubs have helped a lot in anti-corruption activities, campaigning activities they do in the sectors.

The anti-corruption Clubs that were awarded are Umuhuza Rwamagana, Urungano Kamonyi, KAJEDED and CICACI, while 14 journalists from different media were awarded at the same day.
