The Office of the Ombudsman commended the activities of the Anti-Corruption Clubs

On this Wednesday 7/12/2022, Office of the Ombudsman, its stakeholders and the youth celebrated the day dedicated to Youth Anti-Corruption Clubs. This day was organized as part of the activities organized during the anti-corruption week 2022 (26/11/2022-09/12/2022). The participants had opportunity to conduct self-assessment and to discuss and commit on their contribution in preventing and fighting corruption.

In today's opening speech, the Chief Ombudsman Mrs. Nirere Madeleine said that the Office of the Ombudsman appreciates the activities done by the Anti-Corruption Clubs because they help the youth and the people in general to know the evils of corruption and encourage them to prevent and report it.

In his closing remarks, the Deputy Ombudsman in charge of Preventing and fighting against Corruption Hon. Mukama Abbas said that the youth are the power of the country and they are the leaders of the future, that is why during the anti-corruption week organized every year, the Office of the Ombudsman allocates a special day to the youth to discuss the evils of corruption and instill in them the values ​​of integrity.

He said, "you as the youth you are the next leaders of our country, you must avoid corruption, avoid getting involved in corruption and imitate the values of those who liberated the country and stopped the Genocide against the Tutsis in 1994".

The discussions focused on the role of these Anti-Corruption clubs in strengthening the values ​​of Anti-corruption, and the role of the media in preventing and fighting corruption.
